The celebration of Carnival in Italy is an amazing tradition. This past weekend I was lucky enough to make my way up to Venice and Verona to experience a huge festival filled with parades, music, amazing costumes, and of course tons of confetti.
It was beautiful to see so many people come together to have so much fun. The two cities were filled with colors and celebration. I don’t know what I was expecting but everything I saw was way beyond words.
The beautiful costumes to the integrate floats made me realize how special Italy is. Walking around the charming cities of both Verona and Venice had me in awe. This ancient tradition is celebrated in different ways in different regions. The symbol of Carnival in Venice is the venetian masks which is what makes it one of the most popular Carnivals in Italy.
The elaborate, historical, and magnificent masks were everywhere in Venice. It was like nothing I’ve ever seen before. The masks ranged from small ones to ones that covered the whole face but each one was stunning in a different way.
I felt a sense of community while enjoying my time in Venice and Verona. Italy never fails to amaze me with how glamourous it is. The different range of costumes worn by old and young made me fall in love with the tradition of Carnival. I enjoyed taking pictures and watching everyone in stunning outfits make their way through the streets of Venice.
It felt surreal to be a part of a tradition that means so much to the Italian culture. The colors, masks, and parade made me feel like a child again, I was carefree and cheerful. I understand why this event means so much to the Italian people and why it attracts people from all over.
It is a time where people come together to enjoy each other’s creativity and energy. Being a part of Carnival was very special to me, I felt inspired, delightful, and over all appreciative that I had the opportunity to go.
Carnival transported my friends and I to what felt like a magical dimension.
