Ariel Levin: Arriving is Viterbo Felt Like a Dream

Ariel Levin*

As soon as a got off the plane I still could not believe I was about to spend the next four months living and studying in Viterbo, Italy. For months before my arrival I spent hours looking at pictures and reading about Viterbo, but nothing could have prepared me for how truly amazing the streets and buildings really are. It has been almost a month since I’ve gotten settled down and my days keep getting better. I have been making use of my time by taking trips to nearby towns, getting lost in this cute city, eating/ cooking, and making friends with the locals and other students in my program. The more I walk around the more I fall in love with Viterbo and the people here.  I am always finding new alleyways to walk through and stores to admire. Each building has so much history and I feel like I learn something new everyday. I am lucky to live in a cute little apartment right across from my school that is close to everything. My classes are engaging, interesting, and give me an opportunity to get accustomed with Italian culture. The delicious restaurants, cafes, and fun bars is going to make going back home even harder. Viterbo is filled with endless surprises and I am excited to learn more about the history, meet more locals, and get better at public transportation. Everyday I feel more at home and I can not wait for all the memories I will create here.
