Marco Zanardi is a tour guide and enthusiastic supporter of art and archology in the Tuscia
area. Originating from Milan, he graduated from university and spent some time working for museums in Viterbo and assisted archaeology teams around Rome and Tuscia.
After exploring Viterbo and the surrounding areas, he fell in love with the history and opportunities they offered.
A trained and adaptable guide, Marco welcomes visitors from all over the world and helps them to experience Tuscia through his eyes. “It is a great place for people to discover archaeology, history of art, food, beverage, and other typical products, mountains, the seaside, the thermal baths. I desire to help people discover the variety of this land, because the province is not so famous.”
He uses his past education in both archeology and art history to make his tours
memorable. Instead of focusing on the small details of the history of the attractions, Marco
explains the time period to give visitors a general context.
When asked about his favorite place in Tuscia, the answer was confident. Villa Lante! Marco fell in love with this renaissance estate and garden in 2006.
After being told that no one could visit the small rooms in the villa, his curiosity grew, “I always desire to enter where it is not possible -to discover new places”. Eventually, his wish was granted when he was asked to help uncover the rooms in 2014.
