Hugs and kisses from Civitavecchia!
The The Kiss of a Port’s Memory statue depicts the farewell of a woman and a sailor on the Molo del Bicchiere. In memory of the bombing in May 1943, the statue was inaugurated in 2020 behind Fort Michelangelo.

Overlooking the Port of Civitavecchia since 1535, the imposing castle was designed by Bramante but the mastio, the highest tower, has been completed by Michelangelo Buonarroti, from which the fortress took the name of Forte Michelangelo.

La statua Il Bacio della Memoria di un Porto ritrae l’addio d’una donna e un marinaio sul Molo del Bicchiere. In ricordo dei bombardamenti nel maggio 1943, la statua è stata inaugurata nel 2020 alle spalle del Forte Michelangelo.

Affacciato sul Porto di Civitavecchia dal 1535, l’imponente castello fu progettato dal Bramante ma il mastio, la torre più alta, pare sia stata completata da Michelangelo Buonarroti, da cui la fortezza prese il nome di Forte Michelangelo.
