Federico Paris, a painter, sculptor and devoted member of the art community, is a resident of Viterbo.
His work has been exhibited in several institutions worldwide, including the national museum of Castel S. Angelo in Rome and contributions to the fashion industry. His accomplishments are a result of his natural talent and devotion to his work.
His studio is a chaotic collection of current projects, tools, and biscotti. This is a symbol of
Federico’s inspiration and mentality. He describes himself as a bulimic artist, one who takes in what they see and project those ideas onto their art, where “food is not really food, it is what Isee”. From drawing pictures of horses in his youth, to memories of video games from 1980 such as Space Invaders, Federico Paris consumes the world and allows us to see it through his art.
As with any artist, Federico channels his emotions and uses his work as a coping mechanism. He credits anger and love as catalysts: “If I am at war with a person or thing, I work very hard, but also love. So, I always need a strong emotion, and, in my opinion, you can only find it in love andin anger”. He does not show favorites to his work, like a good parent, and instead views past projects as insights into his past. “So, the works are a vehicle of memories for me I rememberexactly when I was making them and what I was doing at the time”.
Federico is working on a new piece for an exhibition in Milan, focusing on his sculptures inspired by Space Invaders. He will also be featured in an exhibition in May located in Bassano in Teverina structured around a theme of madness in literary works. We all look forward to Federico Paris’s future masterpieces.
My name is Amber Petrossi and I am from Southern California, USA. I am studying anthropology and geography with a minor in Italian at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. I am studying abroad in Viterbo for the spring semester to learn more about Italian language and culture. I have always been drawn to Italy. Everything from art, food, and way of living.
